Artist’s Statement

Drawing and painting has always been my favourite way of exploring the world, of inwardly processing new experiences.

The power of light, colours and shapes has always charmed me.

I paint using watercolours, oils and acrylics, loving to depict landscapes and flowers, the beauty and harmony we can still find around us.

I believe that my mission as an artist is accomplished whenever I succeed in touching the soul of other human beings with the caress of beauty.

Maria was born in Genoa, a sea town in the North of Italy, on January 30, 1958. She got her artistic education admiring and studying the rich artistic heritage of Italy and other European countries.

The sixteen years she spent in Pakistan, working for the Italian Government, further widened and enriched her artistic horizon.  Being closely in touch with totally different cultures, nature and ways of life deeply touched her personal and artistic life.

Since December 2000, Maria lives in Burlington Ontario. Together with her husband Leslie, she enjoys spending as much time as possible at their house on Francis Lake (Owen Sound ON), where she has her art studio.
